Paréntesis, Successful 28th Presentation of the Latino Center on Aging’s Golden Age Awards in South Florida

On October 6, 2017, the Latino Center on Aging (LCA) held its Twenty-eighth gala event for the Golden Age Awards at the Coral Gables Country Club in Florida. The Golden Age Awards have been given since 1993.
This year’s South Florida Golden Age Award Recipients were: David Saltman, Marisel Losa, Néstor Plana, Lillian Rivera, Brendaly Rodríguez, Hon. Elaine Bloom, Hon. Esteban Bovo, and Beverly Sanders. The event was co-chaired by Josefina Carbonell from Independent Living Systems (ILS) and María Hidalgo from VITAS Healthcare.
“It is an honor and privilege having served as Co-chair with my colleague and friend, Maria Hidalgo,” said Carbonell, and added, “the Latino Center on Aging has compassionately demonstrated its commitment to our seniors.” The master of ceremony was the well known radio host, Liliana Marin. The banquet was a festive and elegant affair that underscored the solidarity and compassion amongst those attending the gala.
The Golden Age Award was established in New York City in 1993 and is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the Latino/Hispanic communities throughout the world. Awards are given for effective leadership, lifetime contributions, public policy initiatives, corporate contributions and community involvement.
The Latino Center on Aging was established in 1991 to enhance the living conditions of Hispanic elderly through advocacy and community education.
The 28th Golden Age Awards Annual Gala was sponsored by Independent Living Systems (ILS), United Home Care, VITAS Healthcare, AARP Florida, Florida National University (FNU), and Plaza Health Network.

El Latino Center on Aging Realizó su Vigésima Octava Gala en Coral Gables. El pasado 6 de octubre, el Latino Center on Aging (LCA) llevó a cabo la entrega de los Premios Edad Dorada 2017 en el Club de Campo Coral Gables.
Recibieron el Premio Edad Dorada 2017 los siguientes distinguidos profesionales del Sur de la Florida: David Saltman, Marisel Losa, Brendaly Rodríguez, Nestor Plana, Hon. Elaine Bloom, Hon. Esteban Bovo, Lillian Rivera y Beverly Sanders.
La Gala de Entrega de Premios Edad Dorada 2017 fue co-presidida por la Honorable Josefina Carbonell de Independent Living Systems (ILS) y María Hidalgo de VITAS Healthcare. “Ha sido un honor y privilegio presidir junto a mi colega y amiga, María Hidalgo, la gala 2017”, expresó Josefina Carbonell, Directora de la Oficina Federal sobre la Vejez durante 2001-2009.
La Maestra de Ceremonias fue la destacada periodista Liliana Marín. El banquete se distinguió por la alegria, sobria elegancia y espíritu solidario.
El premio “Edad Dorada” fue establecido en Nueva York en 1993 y se entrega a individuos quienes han realizado contribuciones significativas a las comunidades Latino/Hispanas a través del mundo. Este reconocimiento se otorga por liderato efectivo, iniciativas de política pública, vida ejemplar, contribuciones corporativas y por compromiso comunitario.
El Latino Center on Aging fue establecido en 1991 para mejorar las condiciones de vida de las personas mayores a través de la educación y la defensa de sus derechos.
